Love gathering with friends over a drink on a Friday night?

Have you ever wished you could create something special—without needing years of bartending experience?

The Gourd Cocktail Infusion Kit makes it easy to craft unique drinks that’s both tasty and fun to talk about at home—using one of humanity’s oldest vessels, gourd.

For thousands of years, people across cultures used gourds to store, ferment, and share drinks. We’ve brought that tradition into the modern home.

With one simple gourd, you can begin your own flavor journey.

What Is the Gourd Cocktail Infusion Kit?

We offer two options:

The Gathering Kit

  • Five 4” gourds (mixed charred and uncharred)
  • Bartending essentials
  • Five culture-inspired recipe cards
  • Instruction manual

The Experimentation Kit

  • A 6” flame-treated gourd
  • A glass bottle for infused liquor
  • Batch label
  • Profession Bar tools
  • Five culture-inspired recipe cards
  • Instruction manual

Each gourd works like a miniature barrel. By simply pouring your chosen spirit into the gourd, you will get a base liquor that is infused with special aroma from the gourd.

Its porous walls gently interact with your liquor adding depth, aroma, and character in just a few days, instead of years.

Unlike oak barrels, gourds create flavors you can’t find anywhere else.

Each gourd can be reused 5–10 times, evolving slightly with every batch.

No sugar. No dairy. No additives.
Just liquor, time, and curiosity.

How to use the kit?

Preparation

Step 1:

Pick a liquor of your choice! Any distilled, unflavored liquor can be used in the infusion gourd. Simply pour the liquor into the gourd til its ¾ full, then Cap it with the cork that comes with the kit til it’s well fixed.

Step 2:

Put 1 or 2 pieces of the wax in the kit in the melting spoon and gently melt the wax. With the professional kit, you can heat up the spoon directly on your stove, with the gathering kit, we recommend using a candle or lighter.

Step 3:

When the wax is fully melted, wait for about 1 minutes to let the wax cool down a bit to reach its ideal viscosity for pouring. When the wax gets thicker, pour the wax on the cork and the rim of the gourd to seal the opening. Use the brass stamp corresponding to your liquor type to stamp on the poured wax. Apply gentle pressure and wait 10 seconds to remove. Now your liquor is properly prepared!

Infusion

Please refer to our recommended infusion time for each type of liquor if you are using the product for the first time! Once you are familiarized with the taste it produces, you can experiment with different time and different liquor to find your favorite!

Opening

This is the exciting moment! Use a small knife to make a cut on the wax til the cork can be pulled out. Then you have the infused liquor! Either take a shot to experience the natural flavor of the infusion, or treat it as a base liquor to be mixed into any cocktail you like. You can use the recipes on our cocktail cards as inspiration, they are all unique tastes related to gourds that we gathered from across the world.

Maintenance

If you are using distilled, unflavored liquors as we recommended, you typically do not need to rinse the gourd, as alcohol is a natural disinfectant and evaporates faster than water. Simply leave the gourd open in a dry place with air flow for a few days.

If you are using sake or wine which has sugar content, gently rinse the gourd WITHOUT any soap, and put the gourd in the oven at 175F for 15 minutes to dry. Then leave at a dry place with airflow.

What are gourds? Why do we use Gourds?

Gourd is a fruit from the same family as pumpkins and cucumbers.

When dried, however, it hardens into a lightweight yet durable, woody shell.

They have long been intertwined with the flavors of our drinks and the rituals surrounding them—until recent centuries.

We strive to bring this heritage taste and its story back to people's table and conversations.

How It Tastes

Flavor depends on five factors:

  • Gourd type
  • Treatment (Charred vs uncharred)
  • Infusion time
  • Batch size
  • Liquor choice

A charred hardshell gourd(in our Experimentation Kit) has a smoky, woody profile;

A uncharred edible gourds(in our Gathering Kit) carries the fresh pumpkin sweet aroma;

A charred edible gourds(in our Gathering Kit) on the other hand offers a deep chocolate and caramel aroma.

We invite you to experiment with the timing, liquor options and cocktail recipe to find out your favorite! There’s absolutely no right or wrong in this journey, as gourds have always been an open book, and by joining this experimentation with us, we are now continuing and expanding this incredible heritage of gourds, and we will archive these new stories on the internet as a new chapter for gourds.
