As G Home is growing, we constantly encounter challenges and opportunities created by simply deciding to work with a natural, variable on the level of business operation. We happily embrace them, as we know it is a part of working with the rhythm of nature, yet to reduce the risks for us and ensure a more sustainable business operation, we adopt a pre-sale model for this Gourd Infusion Kit.
From March 15-May 15 2026, the Gourd Cocktail Infusion Kit would be available for pre-order on Kickstarter. This helps us to understand our demand and move into production with more ease. At the gourd harvesting season (End of October), we would start sourcing our gourds from our collaborating farms. Shipping can be expected mid November, making it a perfect holiday gift as well. All the backers of this project on Kickstarter would be automatically enrolled on our email newsletter, where regular updates on our process and production would be sent out. To us, the process in this project is just as important as the result, so we hope you’d enjoy these updates as well.

Safety:
While we encourage everyone to experiment with different drinks in the infusion gourds, there are a few things that should be avoided. Rule of a thumb is, avoid sugar, avoid protein. Gourd is a natural dried fruit with porous fiber structure. That means if any sugar or protein residuals fermented in the gourd and eventually went bad, it can be unnoticeable. We only recommend Distilled, unflavored liquor, because they typically have 0 sugar content and the alcohol can function as a natural disinfectant. Sake and dry wine are two only exceptions that can be safely infused, but kindly limit the infusion time to 48 hours. Make sure to conduct the infusion process in a cool, and dry environment, and rinse the gourds and dry the gourds in the oven at 175F for 15 minutes.

Can I use spirits not listed?
Yes! But always check the ingredients—no sugar, no milk/protein.

Can I reuse the gourd?
Yes! Each gourd in our kit can be reused. You may notice that the required infusion time gets longer after a few rounds, this is natural since infusion essentially is the process of extracting the flavor in the gourd with liquid and liquor. You can confidently use each gourd 8-10 times!

Will flavors mix between batches?
It depends. I typically use one gourd consistently for one type of liquor so that would not be a problem at all, but in case keeping track gets hard, simply make sure each gourd is given enough time to dry after each batch, mixing flavor would not be an issue.

I noticed my liquor evaporated in the gourd! Did I do anything wrong?
No! You didn't do anything wrong. This is a common phenomenon in all liquor flavoring/aging processes and it has been given the name “angel’s share”. It is a result of the container being porous, so a small portion of the alcohol would escape through the gourd skin(or oak barrel in traditional whiskey aging) even if the opening is properly sealed. Keeping the gourds in the infusion process in a cool place, and don’t extend the infusion process for too long helps to reduce the potential loss.

Can I ferment in it?
No. While fermentation with gourds has been an existing practice, we do not recommend doing so. Gourd fermentation works well and most safely when a fresh fruit is processed quickly under a controlled environment. The natural yeast on the gourd would ensure none of the bad bacteria can become the dominant microbe within the ecosystem, yet the shipping process creates a lot of challenges to the yeast and therefore there is a risk involved. If you would like to try gourd fermentation, get a fresh edible gourd during the fall season and try with that! We’d like to see what you make too:)

Is this dishwasher safe?
No! No dishwasher, no soap.

Does it leak?
There should not be any leakage on the gourd unless it is not sealed properly.

Why does my gourd look different?
Every gourd is different, so you would see variations even among the gourds in your kit! Yes we conduct a selection process based on volume size and fruit maturity, so each is safe and ideal for the intended purpose.

Do you ship internationally?
Yes! We’re excited to share the Gourd Cocktail Infusion Kit with supporters around the world. At launch, we offer international shipping to select regions, including:
United States, Canada, United Kingdom, European Union, Australia, Japan, Singapore, and China.
Shipping fees are calculated at checkout. If your country is not listed, please contact us and we’ll do our best to accommodate you. Please note that international backers are responsible for any local customs duties, taxes, or import regulations that may apply.

Can I change my address later?
Yes. You’ll be able to confirm or update your shipping address after the campaign ends. Once the campaign is complete, we’ll send out a backer survey to collect your final shipping details. You can update your address at that time. If you need to make changes after submitting your survey, please contact us as soon as possible and we’ll do our best to help. Please note that once an order has been prepared for shipment, we may not be able to make changes.

Can I buy extra gourds later?
Yes! During the campaign, you’ll be able to add extra gourds and accessories to your pledge using Kickstarter’s add-on options. After the campaign ends, we’ll also offer opportunities through our backer survey for supporters to purchase additional items, subject to availability.
We recommend backing the project early to secure the items you’d like, as quantities may be limited.

Yes! In the kit, you would already see 5 recipes inspired by the rich gourd-liquor heritage around the world. When you join our VIP signup list($1), you would also be invited into our facebook group where you can see my new discoveries as well as other backers in our Gourd family’s experiments!

Have you tested this?
Yes. This kit is the result of hundreds of rounds of hands-on experimentation and real-world testing in the past 2 years.
We’ve tested the gourds with a wide range of spirits, infusion times, and treatments through repeated use in our studio and at home. Many early versions were shared with friends, collaborators, mixologists, and guests at dinners and gatherings, where we collected honest feedback on flavor, usability, and durability.
These tastings and conversations directly shaped the final design of the Gourd Cocktail Infusion Kit, the recommended infusion guidelines, and the included recipes. We continue to refine the product based on user feedback, and we see this project as an ongoing collaboration with our community.

Who makes these?
Each Gourd Cocktail Infusion Kit is developed and assembled by the Gourd Revival team in close collaboration with our partner growers and craftspeople in Rhode Island, USA.
Our gourds are sourced from small farms that specialize in cultivating traditional gourd varieties. After harvesting, they are carefully dried, selected, and prepared for use based on our quality standards.
The flame treatment, finishing, kit assembly, and final quality checks are carried out by our team to ensure consistency, safety, and performance.
We work with a small, dedicated network rather than large anonymous factories, allowing us to maintain transparency, craftsmanship, and close control over every stage of production.

Will this be available after Kickstarter?
Yes. After the campaign ends, you can still order the Gourd Cocktail Infusion Kit through 2 channels: late pledges on kickstarter and later on our official website, subject to availability.
However, Kickstarter backers receive exclusive pricing that will not be available again after the campaign.
Once the kits are available through regular retail channels, prices will reflect standard production and distribution costs and will be higher than Kickstarter rewards.
