Yes! All our gourd pieces are handcrafted in our Rhode Island studio, where each item is carefully shaped, finished, and inspected to ensure both quality and authenticity.

3. How Fragile Are Gourd Products?

Gourd pieces can be similar to ceramics in terms of fragility. Thicker-walled gourds are generally sturdier, while thinner-walled items require more gentle handling. Dropping a thin-walled piece could lead to breakage, so please treat it like you would fine ceramics.

4. How Do I Care for My Gourd Products?

  • Handling: Use care when moving or cleaning, especially with thinner pieces.
  • Cleaning: Wipe gently with a soft cloth. Avoid submerging in water for long periods.
  • Finishes: We do not recommend adding extra finishes. Oil-based treatments may significantly change the gourd’s color, especially on distressed surfaces.

5. Do You Offer Repairs If My Gourd Breaks?

Yes! If breakage occurs and the damage is within certain limits, we offer a kintsuki-inspired repair service borrowed from Japanese ceramics. Rather than hiding cracks, this technique highlights them, celebrating the piece’s evolving story. If you need a repair, email a photo of the damage to gourdrevival@gmail.com for a consultation.

6. Can I Drink from Gourd Vessels?

Some of our products are strictly decorative, while others—like our DIY gourd-aging cocktail kit—are designed for specific food and beverage use. Always check the product description to ensure it’s suitable for drinking or email us if you’re unsure.
