Meet The Founder
Founder
Haoying (How’Ying) is the founder and creative director of G HOME. Her practice is rooted in material curiosity and cultural observation, with a focus on how everyday objects carry meaning across time, geography, and human use.
Growing up in China, Haoying was surrounded by traditional gourd forms used in domestic and rural life. These objects, simple in appearance yet deeply functional, became an early reference point for her understanding of design where utility, material, and culture exist as one continuous language rather than separate ideas.
A defining moment in her journey came during a visit to Mexico, where she encountered gourd objects that felt visually and functionally familiar despite the cultural distance. This experience reframed her perspective on the gourd not as a localized craft tradition, but as a global material archetype one that has independently supported human life across different civilizations.
Through G HOME, Haoying continues to explore this intersection of material history and contemporary design. Her work focuses on reinterpreting natural forms for modern domestic life, emphasizing tactile experience, intuitive use, and emotional resonance over decoration or spectacle.
Her approach is guided by restraint and observation, treating design as a way to reveal rather than reinvent allowing objects to speak through their function, their material honesty, and their connection to shared human rituals.
